Kangaroos are one of Australia's national treasures and is one main reason many visitors flock to this sun kissed Heaven. We ave all sen the television documentaries with these pleasant marsupials hooping about with baby kangaroos in their pouches which is surely a sight for sore eyes.
Many species of Kangaroo have become extinct due to the heavy settlement of the Europeans over the last two centuries which inevitably changed the whole climate of the area and the wild habitats in which these wild animals once lived. There are currently around 69 different species known to Man of Kangaroo and they also vary in size and shape. Some Kangaroos are so large like the Red Kangaroos for example that they can be as tall as a man of two meters! There are many conservation projects now led by the Australian Government to protect these beautiful animals and you can visit them in both zoos and national parks. The wonderful thing about Australia is that you can see Kangaroos in their natural habitat which is a great plus especially for any observers of Nature in general.

The most famous places to see Kangaroos in Australia are Kangaroo Island and the Blue Mountains. These two places are Paradise for both Marsupial and Man and there are now special tours that one can take to really get the best out of seeing these Kangaroos in the Wild. One tip the guides will give you is that to get the best close ups of Kangaroos you should walk very slowly and quietly, this way you will get to see the best of them and very close up! Kangaroos can only give birth to one kangaroo at a time and the baby is living quite happily in it's mother's pouch until it is ready to face the World.

There are other national parks too where you can see the kangaroos frolicking around unperturbed these include some other species of threatened animal life too. In some parts of Australia there are to many kangaroos and this year there was actually a culling of Kangaroos due to much public damage the kangaroos were getting up to!
